During my last few days in Europe, I made a spontaneous decision and booked a day trip to Cinque Terre from Florence. I’ve always stumbled across pictures of the charming seaside villages on the internet and knew that one day I would have to witness them for myself.
Originally, I had no plans to visit the Italian Coast on this trip, due to time and the weather becoming much cooler. But knowing that I was only a couple hours away and unsure of when I’d return to Italy, I said F!%k it and hopped on the charter bus early the next morning. The bus ride took about 1.5 hours and offered endless views of Tuscany until we reached the mountainous region of the Italian Rivera coastline. Though, the weather wasn’t very ideal and the sun would come and go throughout the day. But none the less, I was happy with my decision to explore 4 out of the 5 seaside villages – Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza and Monterosso. Each village is lined with pastel buildings, cliff side vineyards and views of the coast in each direction.

- If you love pesto pasta as much as I do, be sure to order some when visiting this area. Not too far north from here is the region of Genoa where pesto originates from.
- Many places serve fresh bite-size seafood in a paper cone to go, called friggitoria. Try it, BEST CALAMARI EVER.
